Dovetailed at Audi Polo Challenge 2015

Vaiva Kalnikaitė, founder of Dovetailed, was invited to the Audi Polo Challenge on Friday 3 July - the first time this prestigious event has been held just outside the historic university city of Cambridge.

The exclusive event welcomed more than 300 guests to enjoy afternoon tea and the polo spectacle, with The Duke of Cambridge playing in one of the skilled teams competing in the fundraising event at Cambridge Polo Club.

Initially and understandably slightly star struck, we were soon mingling with a mix of what Director of Audi UK - André Konsbruck, described as ‘crazy-interesting people’ and a plethora of established actors and VIPs.

André explained the aim of the evening was to bring together local innovators Audi considered to be undertaking exciting and groundbreaking work in their field, with people that have a real interest in developing technologies.

Much to our delight the sun was shining, and over cocktails (the vodka, elderflower and rosehip ‘iced’ tea, poured from a smoking teapot into cups and saucers was a particular delight!) and nibbles, we rubbed shoulders with the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Clive Owen, Matt Smith, Jack O’Connell, Douglas Booth, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.

With a temporary, but remarkably lavish, marquee erected just for the occasion, there was definitely an air of spontaneity and ‘magic’ surrounding us throughout the evening. That being said, behind the scenes everything was carefully orchestrated, with Audi covering all bases to make sure the night was comfortable and enjoyable for all attendees.

After a delicious four course meal, including a pasta course by Michelin star chef Angela Hartnett, the entertainment was precisely that; wickedly entertaining. BRIT award winning British singer songwriter – Ella Eyre put on a ruddy good show and almost instantly had everyone up on their feet.

Before we turned into pumpkins, it was home time. Safe to say, we were very grateful for the lift home, with Audi having laid on personal chauffeurs for all guests that evening. In all, a very enjoyable way to spend a Friday evening and a good opportunity for us to talk to some very interesting people about what we’ve been up to – thank you Audi UK!

The Audi Polo Challenge in Cambridge is in support of two charities - Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust and Skillforce. The annual occasion has raised more than £1.7million over the last decade for various charities supported by Prince Harry and the Duke of Cambridge.

Pssssst! – we’re launching a crowdfunding campaign this September for our nūfood 3D food printer. Those who wish to support our endeavours in creative cuisine can pledge money to fund further development with the aim of bringing a consumer appliance and accompanying printable-juices to market. Several tiers will be available including the chance to own the first nūfood printers in existence.
