Dovetailed

5 minutes with Rachel

Rachel has completed a week work experience at Dovetailed!

Working at Dovetailed is friendly and relaxed. I’ve also been allocated a very absorbing project, so the day seems to go really quickly.

I wish I’d invented the biro, which is used every day by thousands of people. If I was to have invented it I would try to make it more environmentally sustainable from the outset.

Hopefully in 10 years’ time, I will have a degree and be working in fashion editing, but likewise I could be in another country doing community work: I’m just looking forward to gaining experience and seeing where the road takes me.

What personal achievements are you most proud of? Completing my Extended Project Qualification, and making it through my 13th year of school!

Cambridge is really easy to cycle around, and the centre is always buzzing and a great place to go to just watch the world go by.

If you had a super power what would it be and why? To be able to capture and keep not only images and sound but also smells and feelings. They are the best way to remember moments.

My favourite bit of tech is probably Kindles, as they are a lightweight way to carry hundreds of books with you at once.

If I were an animal, I would be a hummingbird. I could be nimble, colourful and go wherever I wanted.

My hobbies and interests include... Dancing, specifically ballet, singing choral music, and reading and studying literature.

If you could have a dinner with someone who is alive or dead, who would it be and why? Jane Austen, as I want to know what she was really like, and question her on all of the aspects in her novels and life that are unknown due to lack of evidence.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Sceptical, creative, volatile

How do you like your coffee? : Not too milky, not too strong, and with something ridiculously sugary.
